*** HELICOPTER PILOT EVENT

The Helicopter Event is designated as a pilot event. A pilot event is an event that is competed but not included in the official scoring. Any team members or students accompanying the team may compete in this event. Medals will be awarded for the event, but no team points will be recorded in the official score. We have added this event for both divisions because Helicopter has been added to the national rotation and may become an official event as early as 2011.

SIGN-IN EVENTS

Six of the regular events and the Helicopter Event are designated as sign-in events. In these events, teams are not assigned to specific times. The coaches must select the times during which they wish the team to compete in these events. After the coaches have completed the registration procedure, they will receive a card that permits them to register their teams for specific times for each sign-in event. On the sign-in sheets each hour will show nine available slots. We advise you to prepare at least one alternative time in addition to your preferred time for each event. The teams registering early will have the best opportunity to place their teams with their first choice times. As more teams register you may find it difficult to obtain your preferred times for your team. When we used this procedure at the B Division Tournament last spring, we found that most event supervisors were very accommodating. If time was available after all the listed teams had competed in a particular time slot, event supervisors were often able to accept teams registered for later times. However, not all event supervisors may allow a time change.
