Invitational Tournaments

General information

Various Invitational Tournaments are held throughout New York State for both Division B and Division C. Invitational Tournaments are optional tournaments that Teams may choose to attend to either give Teams more practice in Tournament Events or for Teams to gain more practical Tournament experience. These practice tournaments are related to, though independent from, NYSSO.

In order to participate in a New York State sanctioned Invitational Tournament:

  • All in-state Teams must have submitted the NYSSO Registration Form and Registration Fee for each Team in order to be eligible to participate in a NYSSO sanctioned Invitational Tournament.
  • All out-of-state Teams must have submitted their respective State’s Registration Form and Registration fee for each Team in order to be eligible to participate in a NYSSO sanctioned Invitational Tournament.

Please be aware that Invitational Tournaments typically require their own separate Registration Forms and Registration Fees.   Also be aware that each Invitational Tournament typically determines its own criteria for Team participation, Division eligibility, Program scheduling, and Event selection.

For safety and compliance, all Invitational Tournaments conducted within New York State, running a Science Olympiad Tournament, must seek and secure valid insurance through NYSSO.  NYSSO reserves the right to refuse not only insurance coverage for, but also official recognition from an Invitational Tournament failing to meet its safety and Tournament standards.

Further Information:

  • Those seeking to participate in an Invitational Tournament should contact the respective Invitational Tournament’s Site Coordinator directly.
  • Those seeking to host and organize an Invitational Tournament within New York State must contact the Invitational Tournament Director, John Beauregard, as soon as possible.
